Our congregation’s Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one to one Christian care to individuals who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Stephen Ministers initially receive 50 hours of training. Currently we have about 15 active Stephen Ministers at First Pres. These men and women meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month and are serving a two year commitment.

Over the 20 years that we have had a Stephen Ministry program, we have seen our partnerships grow with the Grace Lutheran Church, and the First Christian Church, and this year with the United Methodist Church.

Countless people in our congregation have been blessed by the weekly visits that our Stephen Ministers make. In each relationship, Stephen Ministers are trained to listen empathically without judgment and do so with the abundant resources that Jesus provides.
