Sue
was raised with her brother and sister in Pittsburgh, PA,
and went to school at Mary Washington, Penn State, earning
a B.A. in Fine Arts. She eventually moved to Denver, CO,
and married her husband Jim. Sue and Jim have 5 children
and 5 grandchildren. All but one child now lives in California.
Prior to moving recently to California, they were on the
mission field in Nigeria for six years and the inner city
of Denver for nine. Sue and Jim managed to travel in Europe
and Africa when returning to the U.S. for furlough times.
Sue received a Master’s in Social Work at Denver University
after her children were in college and she is currently
finishing a Commissioned Lay Pastor Diploma at the Mennonite
Brethren Seminary in Fresno, CA. Sue’s interests have
been design, spiritual formation, Spanish and film. She
has found joy here at First Pres and especially involvement
in the Alpha course.
Her life verse is Phil. 3:13: I do not consider myself
yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do; Forgetting
what is behind and striving toward what is ahead, I press
on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called
me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
