The First Presbyterian Church of Visalia has a long tradition of worshiping God through great music. This music points us to God and allows us to communicate with Him more deeply. Whether through an anthem, hand bell piece, or children's chorus, the music is carefully chosen and practiced to bring skillful and worshipful music to God! We have a variety of music communities for all ages to join:
The Chancel Choir is a special community that meets each Wednesday night at 7:00 in the Sanctuary to prepare music for the 9:00 Sunday morning service. Each rehearsal we hone our vocal technique while working on upcoming anthems in a variety of styles.
The Hand Bell Choir meets Wednesday evenings to prepare for mostly seasonal worship offerings. This is a fun community of ringers of all levels and ages.
The Kids Choir meets Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:00. This serves as an opportunity to teach our children how to worship God with a joyful noise. We also prepare special songs to sing for worship services.
The Worship Ensemble is a small group of various musicians and instrumentalists focused on providing contemporary praise and worship music to a service once a month.
The Women's Ensemble is a small group of women singing in two or three part harmony. This fun group provides special music for worship services.
With Strings Attached is our chamber music orchestra in residence. This group is comprised of superb community musicians playing music rarely performed. In December of 2014 we performed our first Messiah Sing-A-Long, and in May of 2015 we had a special concert featuring Bach Cantatas.
